The essence of the Joanna Bisley Designs brand is to design heirloom quality bridal accessories for the contemporary bride who is looking for something unique and timeless. The ultra femme line with it’s distinctively vintage aesthetic is meticulously designed and handcrafted in Joanna’s small studio along with artisan trained makers. Joanna’s intention is to create designs that will become coveted family treasures that will be handed down to future generations.

She is passionate about only using the finest materials including precious metals, freshwater pearls, lightweight handcrafted clay florals and genuine Austrian Crystal.

THE DESIGNER

Joanna Bisley is an award-winning bridal accessory designer based in Calgary, Canada. Many of Joanna’s designs draw inspiration from her English heritage where she developed a fascination for jewelry at a young age after a school field trip to The Tower of London to see the Crown Jewels. Early pictures in the family albums show Joanna stranding bright plastic beads on string, a sign of things to come.

Ultimately, she followed in her father’s footsteps after college graduation and worked in the film industry in Vancouver BC for nearly 13 years specializing in post-production and visual effects. In need of a creative outlet separate from her stressful work schedule she purchased a few strands of gemstones and started wire wrapping designs and Joanna Bisley Designs was born! After the birth of her two children and at the end of her second maternity leave Joanna started her business full time and hasn’t looked back.

Initially she created gemstone and everyday wear jewelry but in 2013 custom requests by brides started coming in and several bridal boutiques asked her to create collections for them. Her focus and passion have been bridal jewelry and hairpieces for the last 10 years. Joanna Bisley Designs can be found at high-end bridal boutiques across Canada and very recently she made her first foray into the US market.
